The Face of Many
“The Face of Many” is a piece that is meant to signify that
Behind every face, there is a story
You can erase a face, paint over it, or even try to shoot at it,
But the story it carries will always be there
Behind this blank face, there is struggle, power and a hope for a peaceful future
Martin Luther King left his legacy behind for us to continue to push for equality
To leave behind hatred and racial injustice
He had a dream for black and white people to come together as one
Live together as one and prosper as one
Now years have gone by and we have put a black man in office to serve two terms
From slaves to president and while this dream was short lived,
We have not given up.
We still stand in the knowledge that there is nothing that can stop us from achieving our goals
We have progressed but there is still a divide between black and white, muslim and christian, a divide that prevents us from reaching our full potential as one united nation.
MLK is a symbol of love, hope, prosperity and power. We as individuals can take Martin Luther King’s words, hopes and aspirations to come together to unify and make a strong presence in the face of injustice.
